How To Stop Smoking
Prepare – work it through in your mind, quietly, privately, over how ever long it takes – this could be years. You are preparing for the day when you have your last cigarette – this day is momentous and terrifying – so prepare well – you are a smoker so smoke – but think about why you are smoking – are you enjoying it ? – are you simply feeding an addiction ? You know all of the reasons why you shouldn't smoke – if you don't then ask around and write them down – but you'll never have that last cigarette if those reasons aren't good enough when pitched against why you continue to smoke. So smoke and think about smoking and don't bother trying to give up if you don't feel strongly enough that you should give up. Willpower is the only way – do you want to be a smoker or a non–smoker ? – if you're not sure then carry on smoking and enjoy it ! – there are no miracles here – you just have to decide – it's your battle, it's your war of wills, you're on your own – so take your time, think about it and prepare.
When you are ready don't tell anyone – you don't need that extra pressure – this is going to be tough enough – this is your personal battle against habit and addiction – they'll notice soon enough that you are not smoking. It is momentous and terrifying but you must have that last cigarette – smoke it and think how you will remember this moment for the rest of your life – do it in peace and in private – it is an intensely personal and important moment of your life and one you will never forget. The battle to never smoke again never really stops – the mantra to recite in your head is simple – I must never take another smoke – not one drag – not one – be clear and sure as you are of anything that it is not possible to have just one smoke – remember you must prepare well, how ever long it takes – with each occasion when you would normally smoke has passed then your confidence will grow – but never drop the guard in your head – I must never take another smoke – not one drag more – not one.
